Process photos of an untitled piece. It’s a map of Canada taking the shape of an eagle.
I was thinking about my relationship with my identity as both American and Canadian. Growing up in Canada, sometimes I’d get conflicted when Canadian identity seemed to only exist as “Not being American in North America” . I made this to suggest that underneath what is collectively called “Canadian” is the same thing Americans call “American Spirit”. I’m expressing my disdain towards negative attitudes towards America when a Canadian is trying to construct their identity. Pots calling tea kettles black.
